Galataki Monastery 2012-12-04T13:27:30+00:00

At the Galataki Monastery, which is dedicated to St Nikolaos (a maritime saint similar to the ancient god Poseidon) you can enjoy the harmony of the sea with the nature.
Located in a fascinating plateau, 200 meters above sea level, the monastery offers an excellent view to the Gulf of Euboea and the shores of Boeotia across the sea.
The Monastery was a male monastery throughout its turbulent history. However it has been a female monastery since 1946.
In the archive and the spiritual treasures kept in the library and the crypts of the Monastery, the visitor can find pictures and facts that make fantasy, legend and reality come together and create one more symbol of our country’s grandeur.
It celebrates its official patronal feast on 6 December but also on 20 May, the day of the removal of the relics.  This day the Monastery is celebrating in the green spring landscape, such as only in the island of Euboea can be found.
Moreover, you will never forget the deserted beaches with the wonderful pine trees that reach up to the sea, in the Galataki area.
